I arrived in Seattle about 18:30 local time and set about locating my luggage and getting my rental car. I got a Ford Explorer; apparently “Standard” size car now includes small SUVs. To me, however, it’s pretty big.
I make the drive from the Seattle-Tacoma Airport to try to find my hotel. After a couple of times passing it and having to circle back, I find the front door. I expect to be walking or taking public transportation for most of my time in the city, so I leave the car with the valet.

I arrived at Chicago O’Hare airport relatively on time. My connection to Seattle, however, was running about 30 minutes late, giving me about 2 hours to find something to do. O’Hare’s wireless is not free, so I didn’t partake. Instead I decided to charge up my iPod for the 4 hour trip to Seattle and go grabe a bite to eat.
I had an excellent field salad at a sports bar near my terminal. At some point I turned around to see what was playing on ESPN2, and lo and behold, it was the UEFA Champion’s Cup. I forgot that was even on! By the time I started watching it, however, it was 60 minutes in and Milan had already scored on Liverpool. Ever hopeful, I decided I had time to stick around. Milan scored again, and I almost decided to leave, when Liverpool scored a surprising goal with mere minutes to spare in regular time. Alas, however, they couldn’t score the equalizer within the last few minutes of stoppage time.
As it turns out, Liverpool weren’t the only ones for whom the clock was running out. I arrived back at my terminal to find my flight almost done boarding. I had just made it!

You think I’m kidding, but the Utah County Republican Party was proposing a resolution “asserting Satan’s role in illegal immigration and supporting the closure of U.S. borders.” The resolution failed on technical grounds, because the convention lacked a quorum by the time it came up (clearly, the work of Satan to undermine these godly men).
“This will just give fodder to the liberal media to beat up on the Republican Party,” [Senator Howard Stephenson, R-Draper] said.
Indeed.
