Remember those 2006 congressional elections, when the Democrats got control of both houses of the legislature? Those were the days, weren’t they? Finally… Congress taking a stand against the abuses going on! Sure, their power to change things is limited, but the least we can expect is some oversight hearings… bring some things out into the open… let the public see what’s going on around them.

Enter Henry Waxman (so called due to his wax nose; I bet you didn’t know about that did you?), new chairman of the House Government Reform Committee. He even renamed the committee to highlight its new purpose, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The times, they is a-changin’! Why, there’s so much oversightin’ to do, Representative Waxman didn’t know where to begin.

Well it’s a year later and it looks like Waxman got his priorities straight. Investigate misdoings in the Bush administration? Don’t be silly! Our congressmen are much too busy getting to the root of the real problems in our society.

Specifically, it’s imperative for our legislature to know whether Roger Clemens took steroids and HGH. We’re at war, folks! If our sports heroes are running around taking performance-enhancing drugs, the terrorists have already… What’s that you say? Waterboarding? Who the fuck cares about the CIA torturing people? We’re talking about baseball here! Baseball!

Keep up the good work, Congress!
