The New York Times has rejected an essay that Sen. John McCain wrote defending his Iraq war policy.
Sen. John McCain wrote an op-ed for The New York Times, but the paper said it could not publish it as written.
The piece was in response to an op-ed from Sen. Barack Obama that was published in the paper last week.

Lou Aguilar says that real men vote for John McCain. The gauntlet’s down, men. You wouldn’t want Lou to think you’re a big pussy now would you? That’s right. If you want to prove to Lou and everyone that you’re the biggest prick around, you’ll vote McCain. After all, he spent 5 years as a POW, and God-willing, he’ll see to it that so do a lot of today’s soldiers (what better a way to make sure they re-enlist after all? Apparently McCain’s new strategy in Iraq is to redefine success. Success now means an increase in the occurrence in terror attacks. w00t!
John McCain said Friday he expects the presidential election this fall will increase the occurrence of “spectacular” terror attempts in Iraq.

The comments come a day after the Arizona senator appeared to make a rhetorical shift in how he described conditions the war-torn country, telling reporters aboard his campaign bus that “we have succeeded in Iraq.”
“I repeat my statement that we have succeeded in Iraq. Not ‘We are succeeding.’ We have succeeded in Iraq,” he said Thursday.
