Warning: possible spoilers below. This is not intended as a movie review, but rather a discussion assuming the reader’s already seen the movies.
I watched The Wind That Shakes the Barley this weekend, and The Lives of Others last weekend. One subject that struck me was the way each movie portrays heroism, and I thought I’d talk about that a little.
CNN’s Rick Sanchez has a story about the “Choking Game” (Wikipedia article here). While I feel bad for the families of these idiotic kids, in a larger sense, I can’t help but feeling those kids are doing us all a service by removing their genes from the gene-pool.
My only question is- are these kids doing this to get high, or are they just trying out for the Darwin Awards?
Tonight (or last night I should say, as it’s now past midnight), I attended the capstone lecture in RIT’s 2006/7 Gannett lecture series, given by Daniel Dennet. I don’t intend this as a full review of the lecture, as I’m not particularly good at that sort of thing, but there were a couple of interesting points that I figured I’d log here before I go to sleep and forget them.
