Crown of Napolean

Named the "Crown of Charlemagne" by Napolean in reference to the ancient Crown of Charlemagne used in the coronation of French kings (and destroyed in the French Revolution).

Napolean placed this crown on his own head in his self-coronation as the first emperor of France, December 2, 1804.

The crown in the background is the Crown of Empress Eugénie, empress consort of Emperor Napoleon III.
